Documenting My Daughter's Childhood

November 4, 2018

Future Biologist? It's not uncommon when you grow up on Vancouver Island, surrounded by raw nature, towering old growth forests and hypnotic beaches. Before she finds out that the world that she loves is at risk of disappearing before the end of her lifetime, first I want her to love it. She needs to love it to want to fight for it. So we venture in the wet November rain and get covered in soaked sand, discover beautiful rocks and shells. We count the number of leaves. We notice the smell of fresh rain on old trees. And I hope for her future.
